School Age Childcare Monitor (Part-time) - Woodland

Job Summary

Administer first aid and medications, perform health services, and assist students with personal hygiene needs including toileting, diapering, and feeding. Monitor students one-to-one or in groups to ensure safety, promote positive parent and child interactions, and assist staff in planning activities and organizing materials. Report student behavior according to established policies while maintaining regular attendance and following safety procedures. This part-time role supports the afterschool childcare program from 2:00pm to 5:30pm, 183 days per school year, requiring knowledge of health regulations and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • G.E.D. Certificate
  • Demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D.
  • Experience working with children in an organized setting
  • Knowledge of safe practices in classroom and playground activities
  • Knowledge of interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
  • Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to learn child guidance principles and practices
  • Ability to communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to print and write legibly
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to learn procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties
  • Ability to monitor, observe and report student's behavior according to approval policies and procedures
  • Ability to learn and apply safety procedures and regulations
  • Ability to administer first aid and medications according to established policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform a broad variety of health services for students
  • Ability to assist students with personal hygiene needs: toileting, diapering, feeding, etc.
  • Ability to monitor students on a one-to-one basis, in small groups or in large groups to ensure their safety
  • Ability to follow procedures to safeguard the health and safety of students
  • Ability to assist the on-site director, classroom teacher or other responsible staff members in planning various activities for the students
  • Ability to assist with organizing materials for conducting special training activities
  • Ability to promote positive parent and child interactions and activities
  • Ability to participate in staff activities and in special training programs
