Job Summary
Administer first aid and medications, perform health services, and assist students with personal hygiene needs including toileting, diapering, and feeding. Monitor students on a one-to-one basis in small or large groups to ensure safety and safeguard their health. Assist the on-site director or teacher in planning activities, organizing materials, and promoting positive parent and child interactions. Report student behavior according to established policies and procedures while maintaining regular attendance. This part-time role involves a 3.5-hour daily schedule from 2:00pm to 5:30pm for 183 days per school year at New Highland Elementary's afterschool childcare program.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D.
- some experience working with children in an organized setting
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Print and write legibly
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Learn procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties
- Monitor, observe and report student's behavior according to approval policies and procedures
- Learn and apply safety procedures and regulations

- Learn child guidance principles and practices
- Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff, both orally and in writing
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
