Job Summary

Oversee the daily operation of the BASE program at school sites before, after, and during summer, ensuring compliance with MSDE regulations and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for children. Lead small groups independently in the absence of the Site Director, manage program activities covering arts, STEM, literacy, and social competence, and enforce the YMCA Code of Conduct and discipline policies. Communicate regularly with parents regarding child progress and behavior, assist with family events, and handle administrative duties including incident reports and attendance tracking. Work full hours throughout the school year and summer, complete required staff trainings, and represent the organization professionally.

Required Qualifications

Must be at least 19 years of age
Must hold a high school diploma or GED, or completed college coursework for credit
6 Semester hours or 90 clock hours of approved training, 45 hours of which must be in Child Development and 45 in Curriculum
400 hours of experience in a school age environment, OR 1 year caring for school age children in a registered family child care
9 clock hours of approved training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, or equivalent
3 clock hours of training in ADA compliance
Must have exceptional work ethic and strength of character
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of MSDE regulations
Must demonstrate problem solving skills and reasoning ability
Must demonstrate capacity for managing and leading people
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Must have interpersonal and coaching skills
Must have organizational skills
Must exemplify a 'Y-Voice' that demonstrates determination, genuine concern, welcoming attitude, hopefulness and a nurturing spirit
