Job Summary

Plan, coordinate, and lead daily thematic enrichment programs for children in licensed before and after school settings while maintaining physical presence and alertness on duty. Provide leadership to staff, ensure adequate coverage for all activities, and model YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Develop positive relationships with individuals and groups, observe strict program guidelines, and maintain comprehensive records. Perform equipment checks, clean and store supplies, and respond immediately to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and NYS regulations. Complete mandatory trainings including CPR, first aid, and child abuse prevention, and work flexible shifts including half-days, full days, or vacation camps as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and communications skills both verbal and written
  • Leadership qualities that enable the candidate to successfully lead as well as work as a member of a team
  • Prior to assignment to initial position, the incumbent will: Complete an initial medical statement and tuberculin test providing satisfactory evidence that they are physically fit to provide child day care
  • Within the first 30-days of employment, the incumbent will: Undergo fingerprint and background screening as mandated by the NYS OCFS
  • Within the first 30-days of employment, the incumbent will: Obtain clearance on the State Central Register (SCR) and Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCL)
  • Must complete annual safety, combating sexual-harassment, and child abuse prevention trainings assigned by human resources prior to direct service
  • Must have current CPR and First Aid
  • Must hold Medication Administration Certification (MAT) or successfully complete within the first 60-days of employment
  • Must complete a minimum of 30 hours of training every 2 years with the first fifteen hours being received within the first 6 months of employment as required by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
