Job Summary
Assist the Site Director and staff in planning, preparing, and implementing all extended care activities, including daily snacks, crafts, games, and science clubs. Promote the health, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children while maintaining a clean, secure, and nurturing environment. Adhere to all policies regarding boundaries, abuse reporting, and risk management, ensuring unused rooms remain locked and high-risk areas are monitored. Foster appropriate communication with parents and maintain required log and record books. Attend staff meetings and follow personnel policies defined in the staff manual.
Required Qualifications
- HS Degree/GED (or working towards)
- minimum of one year's experience working with children under age 13
- Excellent human relation skills
- communication skills
- good organizational skills
- Clearance from a criminal background check
- positive, constructive attitude
- sound knowledge of good teaching practices
- sound knowledge of child growth and development
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA
- ability to articulate and model YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honest, Responsibility
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR get certified within 90 days of employment
