Job Summary
Implement programs and activities for the personal and emotional growth of children while establishing positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. Facilitate assigned projects including attendance sheets, behavior documentation, and drills, and maintain assigned areas by setting up spaces and following cleaning guidelines. Monitor students during assigned periods in classrooms, playgrounds, and hallways to ensure a safe environment, and follow student success plans such as IEPs and behavior plans. Prepare lessons and club time activities appropriate for individuals or small groups, and participate in meetings, required training, and in-service presentations. Perform other related duties as assigned, including cleaning, decorating classrooms, and preparing supplies for daily programs and special events. Maintain a CPR/First Aid Certificate and criminal background clearance.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Criminal Background Clearance
- Knowledge of stages of child development
- Knowledge of methods of motivating and controlling children
- Knowledge of codes, regulations, and laws related to counseling students
- Ability to schedule activities
- Ability to gather and/or collate data
- Ability to use basic, job-related equipment
- Flexibility to work with others
- Flexibility to work with data utilizing defined and similar processes
- Flexibility to operate equipment using standardized methods
- Ability to work with a wide diversity of individuals
