Job Summary

Answer live telephone calls professionally, accurately, and efficiently while scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling patient appointments via telephone, fax, or the computer. Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and pre-authorizations using online tools and Meditech, ensuring callers understand test requirements and preps. Confirm patient identity using three sources of identification and manage timecard responsibilities, computer downtime processes, and accurate messaging for callers. Maintain a high level of professionalism with exceptional customer service, escalating difficult situations to management as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced medical environment
  • Excellent spelling, communication and grammar skills
  • Ability to multi task and toggle between multiple screens seamlessly
  • Knowledge of typing/data entry (30 wpm)
  • Working knowledge of Windows / Microsoft Office Suite

  • Adheres to universal precautions and respiratory etiquette guidelines
  • Understands individual roles/responsibilities during hospital codes
  • Understands role in Department specific plan for emergency preparedness
  • Knowledge of SNAP communication tool
  • Ability to activate, track response and ability to educate end-users on use
  • Mastery of Red Alert activation/monitor alert response
  • Is competent with all aspects of Customer Service
  • Is able to help all internal and external patients utilizing the Customer Service skills learned in Training
  • Knows when to escalate a difficult situation to Management
  • Attends monthly continuing education sessions
  • Completes all associated measurement tools and learning exercises
  • Completes all monthly emergency preprardenes education tasks
  • Participates in continued learning
  • Possess a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures that continue to develop in their role and throughout the organization
  • Embraces technological advances that allow us to communicate information effectively and efficiently based on role
  • Can schedule all Patients effectively and keeping within all Hospital standards
  • Can effectively utilize the One Call system
  • Can connect callers to appropriate calling destination efficiently
  • Always works within the Team parameters by helping co workers when necessary
  • Frequent Standing/Walking Required
  • Use of hands required
  • Use of feet required

Desired Qualifications

  • Equivalent to high school curriculum
  • Healthcare experience
  • Medical Terminology knowledge
