Job Summary

Schedule all elective surgical procedures, appointments requiring prior authorization, and procedures for the Operating Room, Central Scheduling, and Ambulatory Surgery suites. Maintain operative software knowledge, prepare and distribute the surgery schedule, and monitor information system quality control. Ensure prior authorization lists are current before patient arrival and accurately record information. Operate computer terminals, attend mandatory safety training, and participate in monthly rounding with the Admitting Manager. Maintain confidentiality of patient data and promote a professional environment while supporting department goals. Full-time, 1st shift with weekend and PRN differentials available.

Required Qualifications

  • Equivalent to four years of high school
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Operating Room procedures/terminology
  • Admitting procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to record information accurately
  • Minimum of one year of scheduling experience
  • Experience with PC inputting/typing
  • Ability to stand/walk 6-8 hours
  • Ability to sit 1-2 hours
  • Ability to bend up to 1/3 of time
  • Ability to squat up to 1/3 of time
  • Ability to reach up to 1/3 of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds 1/3 or more of the time
  • Precise motor function (fine manipulation) in right hand

  • Professional, neat, clean, and appropriate appearance
  • Ability to wear proper photo identification badge while on duty
