Job Summary
Receive physician orders, verify insurance, and obtain preauthorizations while answering scheduling inquiries. Schedule patients for treatments or diagnostic procedures using computerized systems, resolving conflicts and documenting re-schedules. Enter patient data to maintain the database, prepare charts, and compile statistical reports as needed. Distribute educational materials to patients and families, referring questions to clinical staff when necessary. Perform administrative support and adhere to all regulatory and accreditation requirements. Full-time, 40-hour day shift schedule at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, a primary referral center for Alaska's interior.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Working knowledge
- 2 years of medical clerical experience
- Medical terminology
- Excellent organizational skills
- Effective human relations and communication skills
- Proficiency with commonly used office software and computers
- Ability to use computerized scheduling systems
- Ability to maintain accurate statistical records
- Ability to gather data
- Ability to produce reports
