Job Summary
Schedules all provider appointments in the computer system, validates patient demographics and insurance information, confirms appointments and answers inquiries, instructs patients on locations, handles data entry and retrieval, answers phone calls and directs callers, adheres to safety and HIPAA policies, and performs other duties as needed; requires detail orientation, professional attitude, reliability, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; prior medical office experience and knowledge of HIPAA regulations are required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum one year of work experience in a medical office, or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function
- Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations
- Interpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and teammate support needs
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving
- Basic to intermediate computer operation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
