Job Summary
Inspect lumber from the scanner drag to determine optimal feeding into the infeed chains and automated knot saws. Stop and reset the scanner to remove jammed pieces, adjust minor settings, and remove defective strips from the drag. Assist the machine operator with setup, error resolution, and full board scanner operation. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This 3rd shift role (9:00 pm - 5:30 am) requires mechanical aptitude, safety training, and the ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment near moving parts.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude in identifying parts type, material, functionality and application
- Strong understanding of safety procedures
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Efficient communication and teamwork skills
- Desire and ability to interact with and take feedback from production operators, supervisor and managers
- Ability to work independently or as a team and follow instructions
- Must complete and follow Lock Out/Tag Out training
- Must be able to regularly push, pull, carry, and lift 5 - 25lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to continually walk, stand, stretch, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, grasping and repetitive movements
- Must be able to regularly talk, hear, read, write
- Must have specific vision abilities including distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to continually work in a non-temperature-controlled environment
- Must be able to continually work near moving mechanical parts
- Must have regular hand-eye coordination at fast pace
- Must be able to regularly climb stairs to/from workstations
- Must be able to continually work in moderate noise, up to 83 decibels
- Must be able to make decisions
