Job Summary
Scale Technician responsible for precision calibration, testing, programming, calibration, and maintenance of plant weighing and data-collection systems in a heavy-duty processing environment. Duties include inspecting and certifying industrial weigh scales, troubleshooting scale errors and peripheral/digital indicators, wiring indicators to peripherals and PLCs, programming digital scale indicators for signal control, and maintaining strict compliance with safety and food-safety policies. Requires expertise in electronics, industrial wiring protocols (RS232/RS485/RS422, 4-20mA), remote interfaces, and use of diagnostic tools (multi-meters, load cell simulators, soldering equipment, calibration weights); experience with PLC interfacing and calibration documentation is essential. Education: high school diploma or equivalent preferred; strong instrumentation aptitude and technical capability are deciding factors; 12-hour shift physical demands specified. Required Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in low-voltage electrical wiring, digital signals, and mechanical components
- Experience in industrial instrumentation, scale calibration, agricultural electronics, or advanced automation maintenance preferred
- Computer literacy to navigate scale programming software, interface with PLCs, and manage calibration logs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach for long shifts; capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
