Job Summary
The Scale Clerk is responsible for weighing inbound and outbound vehicles, inspecting loose loads, directing unloading, and assisting with purchase details. Key responsibilities include maintaining safety standards with proper PPE, accurately inspecting materials, operating and maintaining mobile equipment, providing training, handling customer inquiries, and maintaining records. The role requires strong communication skills, basic math abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Candidates must have a High School Diploma/GED and be able to work in various environmental conditions, as well as pass pre-employment screenings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math and data entry skills
- Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to follow oral and written communication
- Ability to climb ladders or steps to reach objects
- Work cooperatively with other employees and the public
- Must be able to work in an environment exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate and changes in weather
- Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in scrap industry preferred
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office preferred
