Job Summary
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair voice, data, fiber optic, and copper telecommunications infrastructure supporting critical Air Force communications systems at Goodfellow Air Force Base. Perform preventive maintenance inspections, diagnose circuit failures, and execute adds, moves, changes, and removals of equipment. Respond to emergency, priority, and routine service outages while conducting cable locating, staking, and marking activities. Maintain accurate maintenance records, update databases and drawings, and coordinate with Government personnel and contractors. Participate in after-hours on-call support when required. This role is located at Goodfellow Air Force Base and requires a Secret level security clearance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Three (3) or more years of experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications systems
- Experience with copper and fiber optic cabling, Inside Plant (ISP), and/or Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications infrastructure
- Experience installing, terminating, splicing, and testing telecommunications cabling
- Experience supporting Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), analog, or digital telephone systems
- Experience interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and telecommunications documentation
- Knowledge of telecommunications installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting principles
- Experience with copper and fiber optic cabling, including installation, termination, testing, and repair
- Working knowledge of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications infrastructure
- Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot analog, digital, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone systems
- Experience using telecommunications test equipment (e.g., cable analyzers, OTDRs, multimeters, tone generators, cable locators)
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and telecommunications records
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license
- Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level
- US Citizenship
Desired Qualifications
- Technical training in telecommunications, electronics, networking, or a related field
- Equivalent combination of education, military experience, vocational training, and telecommunications experience
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Federal telecommunications systems
