Job Summary
Job Coach for the South Carolina High School Credential (SCHSC) program assists the teacher with daily classroom instructional activities and provides transportation and direct student support for job placements in the school and community. The role includes creating checklists and tools for teaching job-related tasks, updating teachers on student performance, coaching students to meet employer standards, training students, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with district policies and regulatory standards. The position requires transportation duties for students, the ability to train and coach students to develop vocational skills, and obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License within four months of hire. Education requirements include an Associate degree preferred, or a High School diploma with 60 college credits or equivalent, with strong computer skills. The role is 181 days per year, 7.5 hours per day, and is based in Aiken County Public School District with compensation linked to the district’s job coach pay scale. Updated 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Meets Highly Qualified standards as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001
- Associate degree preferred, or High School diploma and general education degree with 60 hours college credit from an accredited college or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
- Experience in working with children
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Completion of coursework and licensure for a CDL within 4 months of hire date
