Job Summary

Concentrate on delinquent accounts through work queues, face-to-face contact, and mail, email, and correspondence. Address estimate, billing, and denial inquiries while resolving complex insurance and patient billing issues. Establish communication with insurance companies and patients by coordinating with revenue cycle and clinical teams on financial risk accounts. Guide accounts to resolution via payment appeals, rebilling, or establishing financial terms. Provide account follow-up through appeals, limited skip tracing, or referral to external collection agencies when accounts are uncollectable. Research credit balances, refund requests, and write-off recommendations to submit to manager approval. Comply with The Guthrie Clinic policies, FDCPA guidelines, and third-party requirements while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years applicable, transferable, work experience
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Background in health care financial services, collections, medical billing, and insurance regulations preferred
  • Must possess a working knowledge of basic health care billing and coding
  • Experience with office software and spreadsheets preferred
  • Prior health care billing knowledge helpful and preferred or prior customer service knowledge beneficial
  • Aptitude for financial equations, speed in calculation, attention to detail, and ability to multi‐task
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills
  • Requires excellent listening, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
