Job Summary
SBA Portfolio Officer responsible for managing a portfolio of SBA loans, ensuring compliance with SBA regulations, monitoring loan performance, servicing customer accounts, and mitigating risk while maintaining positive borrower relationships and supporting the bank’s SBA lending objectives; duties include pre-screening customers, collecting required documents, underwriting, loan committee presentation for approvals, ongoing monitoring, and adherence to regulatory and bank policies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Education Level: High School Diploma
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or customer complaints
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to top management regulators or board members
- Excellent analytical skills including problem definition data collection and drawing conclusions
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with variables
- Knowledge of SBA loan programs and underwriting processes
- Experience with credit analysis and financial reporting for loan portfolios
- Ability to compile and verify documents (tax returns financial information SBA documents)
- Understanding of regulatory requirements including BSA OFAC USA Patriot Act Privacy Act and CRA
- Experience with appraisals and Phase I reports for property purchase loans
- Monitoring covenants and compliance after loan funding
- Liaising with borrowers and referral sources to expand business development
- Maintaining documentation and compliance with loan servicing procedures
- Participating in CRA and community service activities
- Staying current on industry trends in safeguarding confidential data and security
- Reporting suspicious activities to appropriate authorities
