Job Summary
SBA Business Lending Specialist develops new loan volume via SBA and USDA B&I Loan Programs, requiring ongoing marketing to establish contacts and a referral network. The role requires building efficient processes to identify SBA prospects, convert them to applications, manage loans through credit and closing, and source over $2.5 million in new monthly loan volume. Responsibilities include leveraging marketing strategies to penetrate markets, building a large referral base, coordinating with internal partners, interpreting credit guidelines, and supporting closing activities. Strong emphasis on relationship development, credit analysis, and proactive communication with borrowers and partners.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 5+ years’ banking experience in Guaranteed Government lending
- Deep knowledge of the SBA SOP and related regulations
- Network of people and resources within SBA and related organizations
- Knowledge and ability to use SBA systems
- Ability to coach and develop staff
- Strategic thinking about market position and actions
- Knowledge of business development planning and management at an office level
- Excellent managerial, communication, and sales skills
- Proficiency with computers and online systems
