Job Summary
Cut steel, aluminum, threaded rod, bar stock, and tube to required lengths using saws and material handling equipment. Read tape measure measurements including fractions, follow cut lists and work orders, and verify accuracy by measuring material before and after cutting. Organize, label, and stage cut material for weld and CNC departments while maintaining a clean and safe work area. Report material shortages, damaged items, or mistakes to a supervisor and adhere to all company safety procedures. This role supports the production workflow by ensuring correct material dimensions before fabrication begins.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to read a tape measure accurately
- Must be able to follow directions and pay attention to detail
- Basic understanding of fractions is required
- Ability to lift and move material safely
- Dependable attendance and good work ethic
- Ability to work with steel, aluminum, and other metal materials
- Ability to stand for most of the shift
- Ability to lift, carry, and move material as needed
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing/shop environment
- Able to work safely around saws, sharp metal edges, and heavy material
- Must be able to accurately read a tape measure
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to work safely around saws and material handling equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Forklift or overhead crane experience
- Previous saw, shop, welding, fabrication, or manufacturing experience
