Job Summary
Supervise and engage children of different ages throughout the day while planning creative activities, games, crafts, and learning opportunities. Provide structure and positive routines, assist mothers in engaging positively with their children, and model healthy, patient interactions. Help manage multiple children, activities, and needs simultaneously, including transitions, clean-up, snacks, meals, and outdoor routines. Respond to challenging behaviors with patience, consistency, and compassion, and recognize when a mother may be feeling overwhelmed to offer appropriate support. Work closely with staff to maintain a calm, welcoming, and safe environment. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Truly enjoys being around children
- Is patient, compassionate, and nonjudgmental
- Is creative and enjoys coming up with new activities and ways to keep children engaged
- Can be playful and energetic while still providing appropriate boundaries and structure
- Is comfortable working with children of different ages and personalities
- Can remain calm when several things are happening at once
- Is a strong multitasker and team player
- Understands that some families may be experiencing difficult circumstances and approaches both mothers and children with dignity and respect
- Is dependable and understands how important consistency is to our families
- Can take initiative rather than always waiting to be told what needs to done
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to become certified

- Experience in recreation or youth programming

- Experience in camp counseling
- Experience working with children and families who have experienced challenging circumstances
