Job Summary
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a Defense Satellite Communications System, including controller interfaces, timing systems, and RF transmitters, while enforcing quality control standards for equipment installation and repair. Perform shift work in a 24/7 operation to activate and maintain circuits supporting the Reagan Test Site and DISA, responding to operational directions from network control elements. Mentor junior personnel in Satcom operations and maintenance, and execute other duties as assigned. This overseas position at Kwajalein Atoll includes free housing and three meals a day.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical school in Communications/Electronics or technical related field, or military training, or experience in lieu of education
- Two (2) or more years relevant X/Ka/Ku/C band experience with military AN/FSC-39, 52, 78, 79, MET, or Tactical SATCOM terminals
- Proven ability to competently and quickly resolve communication anomalies between SATCOM system elements, and interconnected telecommunication nodes
- Demonstrated ability to effectively operate and troubleshoot military communications systems and satellite links utilizing military Technical Standard Orders (TSO), Technical Manuals (TM), and schematic diagrams
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use various electronic test equipment to include multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency generators and counters, network analyzers, Firebird and T-Bird test sets, and optical test sets
- Knowledge of X/K/Ka/C band military SATCOM HPA's, TWT's, SSPA's, LNA's, and EBEM's for AN/FSC-39, 52, 78, 79, MET, and or Tactical SATCOM Terminals
- Knowledge of DISA procedures, regulations, and circulars
- Exceptional judgment, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance
- U.S. citizenship
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands
- Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb and work at heights up to 8 feet
- Ability to work 12-hour varied/rotating shifts/off shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of The Military Satellite Communications System Operations/Maintenance Course, Army MOS 25S, or equivalent
- Security Plus Certification or equivalent
