Job Summary
Field incoming calls, respond to patient communications, and route messages to appropriate individuals while ensuring patient satisfaction. Maintain patient and physician office schedules, register patients, and verify demographics and insurance information at each visit. Greet patients politely, capture barriers such as language or hearing issues, and educate patients on MyChart. Handle registration and billing edits, correct charge review errors, and verify consents. Collect amounts due, close out cash drawers, and process medical record requests per HIPAA guidelines. Monitor reception area cleanliness and maintain a consistent patient flow.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours at time)
- Continual use of fingers for patient care, writing and computer entry
- Routinely uses upper extremities
- Occasional requirement to lift up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally push cart with supplies up to 30 pounds
- Occasionally push wheelchair with patient weighing up to 325 pounds
- Regularly requires ability to stoop, bend and reach above shoulder level
- Ability to hear normal conversation and good general, near and peripheral
Desired Qualifications
- Graduates of accredited medical assistant/administrative training programs
- One year office experience in a similar healthcare setting
- Customer Service experience
