SAP Functional Quality Test Lead

Job Summary
Senior SAP Functional Quality Test Lead embedded in a product team, acting as the Quality Gatekeeper across the full release cycle. Own end-to-end quality for SAP functional domains from SIT design through UAT sign-off and post-release validation. Collaborate with Solution Architects, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to embed testability in functional designs, develop and maintain end-to-end SIT scenarios and test scripts with complete coverage (including negative cases), lead UAT planning and execution, manage test data readiness across SAP landscapes, govern defects in Azure DevOps, review designs and documentation at gate entries, and produce quality dashboards and post-release insights. Drive continuous improvement by identifying systemic gaps and building quality capability within the testing community. Must manage competing priorities across parallel release tracks with proactive risk escalation to the Quality Lead. Proven SAP testing experience across multiple cycles, deep SAP domain knowledge (S/4HANA/ECC modules), and hands-on data preparation and UAT experience are required.
Required Qualifications
- Proven SAP functional testing experience across at least two full project lifecycles (greenfield or brownfield S/4HANA implementations preferred)
- Hands-on SAP data preparation experience — master data creation, transactional data setup, directly in SAP systems
- Hands-on UAT end-to-end testing: planning, script development, business engagement, defect management, and formal sign-off
- Experience in a structured release governance model with formal entry/exit criteria and quality gate enforcement
- Deep working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and/or SAP ECC across the assigned functional module(s)
- Proficiency with SAP test management tooling (Panaya, SAP Solution Manager TM, HP ALM/QC, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO) or Jira for defect management and test planning
- Desirable: ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation or Advanced), SAP Certified Application Associate, experience with Worksoft Certify or Tricentis Tosca, ChaRM, Six Sigma Green Belt
- Background in utility, energy, manufacturing, or industrial sectors aligned to Hitachi Energy
- Exposure to SAP BTP or SAP integration middleware testing
- Experience in a CoE or Shared Services delivery model
