Job Summary
Sanitation Superintendent leads sanitation programs for a Pilgrim’s poultry processing plant, directing sanitation supervisors and hourly staff to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient cleaning operations across shifts. Responsible for training and developing staff, ensuring USDA/OSHA/food-safety compliance, coordinating with suppliers, managing chemical handling and inventory, and contributing to budget and continuous-improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe, sanitary production environment.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma/GED; College Degree in related field required
- Must have previous management experience in a food or poultry processing facility, including at least one year of directly related experience
- Effective communication both orally and in writing; independent decision making; basic computer knowledge; strong organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities; proficient in MS Office
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Knowledge of USDA regulations, OSHA requirements, and food safety standards
- Ability to train, coach, and develop sanitation staff; plan and direct daily work; evaluate performance
- Experience with sanitation chemicals and inventory control
- Budget management and opportunities for cost control and continuous improvement
- Lead and oversee sanitation supervisors and hourly sanitation employees to ensure sanitation activities are completed safely and on schedule
