Job Summary

The Sanitation Manager will lead, train, and manage the sanitation staff to ensure FDA/USDA-regulated, SQF/GFSI-compliant food safety standards are met. Responsibilities include developing and implementing the Master Sanitation Schedule and SSOPs, managing chemical inventory and pest control, ensuring cleaning is completed before production, training and supervising sanitation personnel, maintaining MSS and SDS documentation, conducting audits and pre-op inspections, performing root-cause investigations, and collaborating with Quality Assurance and Production to uphold GMP/SSOP programs. Additional duties include developing sanitation training programs, maintaining environmental monitoring procedures, and ensuring overall facility and equipment cleanliness in support of plant sanitation, food safety, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in food manufacturing sanitation, with experience in a managerial role
  • Strong understanding of sanitation techniques, chemicals, and food safety standards (GFSI/SQF)
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills; proficiency in computer systems for documentation
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or related field preferred, or a combination of experience and education
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish highly desirable
  • Certifications in Food Safety, Preventive Controls, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) strongly preferred
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions (listed as needed in description)
  • Push/pull 10-100 pounds approximately 10-50 feet
  • Frequent lifting between 10 and 50 pounds of supplies and trash with the aid of co-workers
  • Work in cold, wet, and noisy environments
  • Flexibility to work off-shifts or weekends to support production needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or related field preferred
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish highly desirable
