Job Summary
The Sanitation Manager will lead and develop the site sanitation program, ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance while driving continuous improvement. Responsibilities include guiding the sanitation team, providing training and technical support, coordinating the Master Sanitation Schedule (SSOP/SSW), overseeing pest control, waste management, environmental monitoring, and QA/QC support, and collaborating with cross-functional teams (Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Maintenance). The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least five years of team leadership in a food manufacturing setting, sanitation technical knowledge, understanding of sanitary design, and strong knowledge of food safety principles and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biological Science or related field
- Minimum five (5) years leading and managing teams within the food manufacturing industry
- Food facility sanitation technical knowledge
- Experience in a food industry plant environment with understanding of manufacturing processes
- Understanding of Sanitary Design for food manufacturing equipment
- Tactical knowledge and application of food safety principles (e.g., Regulatory, PCQI, HACCP, SQF, GMPs, food microbiology)
- Ability to lead, coach, and develop a team within a high-performing organization
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, procedures, and standards
