Job Summary
Perform regular ice surface maintenance during game intermissions and timeouts, including shoveling, ice repairs, and ensuring a smooth playing surface. Engage with fans during breaks and pre-game activities, assist with promotions and intermission events, and help with in-game video feature shoots as needed. Represent the organization at community events, social outings, and viewing parties while participating in photo opportunities. Work 75% of home games including preseason and playoffs, reporting from 2 hours to 30 minutes before game start. This seasonal role concludes after the final home game, including playoffs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- Available work 75% of Shark home games including Preseason and Playoff games
- Ability to work unusual hours at times based on the event schedule and the requirements of the event
- This includes evenings, weekends, late nights, early mornings, and holidays
- Strong ice-skating abilities
- Previous experience in figure skating, hockey, or similar disciplines
- Ability to skate quickly and maneuver efficiently on the ice
- Positive attitude
- Strong communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset
- Comfortable engaging with fans and working in front of large crowds
- Familiarity with hockey and an understanding of the game
- Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Must be available to attend required tryouts
- Ability to go up and down stairs multiple times in a shift
- Ability to skate confidently and safely on ice for extended periods
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including shoveling ice, pushing equipment, and removing accumulated ice shavings
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 20-30 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, skate, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the duration of a shift
- Ability to work in a cold ice rink environment for extended periods
- Ability to maintain stamina and perform physically demanding work during games, practices, rehearsals, and special events
- Ability to react quickly and work safely around moving equipment, players, performers, and guests
- Ability to navigate stairs, ramps, and arena concourses
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as required
