Job Summary
Maintain full command and responsibility for safe vessel operations, navigation, and management of passengers and crew while ensuring compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and maritime safety standards. Safely navigate, dock, and maneuver the vessel in varying weather and traffic conditions, conducting pre-departure inspections to verify vessel readiness, safety, and operational efficiency. Execute all safety procedures, including emergency drills for crew and passengers, and provide ongoing training to new and existing Captains and Deckhands. Manage administrative documentation and address customer service needs to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction. Requires a 25 GT or higher Merchant Mariner Credential, willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and ability to lift 50lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and ongoing random drug and alcohol screenings
- 25 GT, 50 GT or 100 GT or higher Merchant Mariner Credential with satisfactory record
- CPR certified or certification can be provided
- Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and major holidays
- Will be required to apply for a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
- Team player and have ability to work independently
- Must be able to lift/pull/push 50lbs
- Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequently
- Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely
- Ability to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel
- Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job
