Job Summary
Sample Dispatch Team Lead role in Stevenage, UK overseeing daily operations of the sample dispatch team to ensure high-quality, compliant service delivery while driving performance, development, and process improvements. Responsibilities include leadership and people management, coaching and development of direct reports, setting expectations with regular feedback, and enhancing team engagement. Operational duties cover scheduling, workload management, ensuring delivery of the Scope of Work and KPIs, providing first-line operational support, and maintaining compliance with GLP, GMP, health & safety, and regulatory requirements. You will support audits and inspections, handle regulated materials (e.g., dangerous goods), drive continuous improvement initiatives, analyze operational data and KPIs, prepare reports, and lead improvement projects. Stakeholder and customer management involves acting as the main point of contact for sample dispatch queries, building relationships with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and partners, and incorporating customer feedback. Documentation and systems duties include maintaining SOPs, risk assessments, training records, and ensuring accurate use of systems for tracking and reporting, with readiness for audits. DGSA knowledge and regulatory guidance support shipping teams. This is a full-time, on-site leadership opportunity in a regulated life sciences environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in sample management, logistics, or dispatch operations within a regulated environment
- Strong leadership or supervisory experience
- Solid knowledge of GMP in a scientific environment
- Experience with LIMS or similar systems and operational reporting
- Extensive knowledge of IATA and Known Consignor regulations
- Up-to-date training in IATA, ADR, and IMDG
- DGSA qualified or working towards (Desirable)
