Job Summary
Samoan Reviewer/Editor/Certifier needed to support DOJ Linguistic Support Services, including translation of documents and media, transcription, and interpretation across diverse subject areas with high-level terminology. Responsibilities emphasize accurate translation preserving tone, editing for quality, certifying translations, and handling sensitive materials under strict confidentiality. Must meet ILR 4 minimum or equivalent, five years of recent language experience, U.S. residency in the last five years, and at least one year of experience with a law enforcement or legal department; proficiency in SDL Trados Studio and other CAT tools is required; candidate must be a U.S. citizen with a Public Trust clearance or higher. Location options include Remote nationwide or National Capital Region with travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language with superior English and editing skills
- Qualifying ILR 4 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S. (not necessarily consecutive)
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Bilingual proficiency in English and the foreign language with formal vocabulary in legal, diplomatic, consultative, and casual contexts
- Translate accurately without changes, omissions, or additions; preserve tone and register
- Proficient in Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, SDL Trados Studio
- Confidentiality and ethics adhered to in handling sensitive material
