Sales Tax Manager

Job Summary
Lead and manage the sales tax compliance function for a multi-billion company. Key duties include ensuring compliance with state and local sales/use tax regulations, serving as primary contact for divisional inquiries and tax research, reviewing contracts and proposals for sales tax issues, preparing and reviewing return filings and reconciliations, training and guiding staff, leading department projects, identifying tax savings initiatives, developing process improvements, and maintaining internal controls while coordinating with Vertex, Taxware, and SAP systems. Requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred) and 6-8 years of tax or accounting experience with at least 4 years in sales tax; strong technical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills; and ability to lead a team in a hybrid in-office/remote environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting preferred
- 6-8 years of demonstrated in-depth Tax or Accounting experience, including at least 4 years of Sales Tax experience
- Vertex/Taxware/SAP experience preferred
- Knowledge of state and local sales/use tax laws
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks, monitor progress toward meeting objectives, and adjust plans and actions as necessary
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of management
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, & Access)
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and customer service orientation
- Ability to work interdependently with others to achieve goals and responsibilities
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers
- High degree of initiative
