Job Summary

Drive revenue growth across rooms, meeting facilities, and restaurants by performing direct sales, managing group inquiries, and executing outside sales calls. Resolve guest complaints professionally while maintaining high confidentiality and adhering to all safety and security protocols. Oversee meeting room scheduling, billing, and setup; review daily arrivals and demand forecasts to support rate recommendations. Participate in weekly sales and revenue meetings to analyze profit and loss statements and identify opportunities for business expansion. Maintain accurate sales records and foster positive relationships with clients and staff.

  • Efforts towards generating business in shoulder seasons
  • Respond to all group inquires including guest room blocks and meeting room
  • Prepare group and meeting room contracts and ensure they are executed properly. Including deposit requirements
  • Maintain open communication with group/meeting planner throughout the sales process, and follow up after the group departure
  • Ensure that final billing is correct and collected promptly
  • Maintain sales records and provide reporting as required
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all past, existing, and future clients
  • Represent the hotel at area business and social functions
  • Actively participate in weekly sales and marketing meetings, as well as revenue meetings
  • Making recommendations to increase sales and revenues
  • Review and understand the profit and loss statement
  • Review weekly group reservations for pick-up and cut-off dates
  • Participates in all staff meetings, including the daily stand-up, monthly staff meetings, and annual training
  • Conducts meetings if applicable
  • Oversee meeting room scheduling, billing, and set up if applicable
  • Review arrivals daily, weekly, and monthly assisting the General Manager with rate recommendations and demand forecast
  • Work with outside vendors such as catering or transportation to ensure group needs are met
  • Provides excellence in guest service and monitors guest satisfaction and makes corrections in areas of opportunity and follows up with all staff members creating a culture of service excellence
  • Uses persuasive selling techniques to sell rooms and promote all marketing programs
  • Have knowledge of property management system
  • Knowledge of how to operate computer equipment, including Microsoft Office suite
  • Participates in and supports a positive, enjoyable work environment
  • Holds an understanding of hotel products and services (i.e., food and beverage, recreation)
  • Ability to communicate with hotel staff, guests, and management in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of the surrounding area and events
  • Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette
  • Ability to understand and adhere to proper cash and credit card handling policies
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Read, write and speak English
  • Ability to learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures
  • Neat, well-groomed appearance including wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards)
  • Follow all state and federal guidelines including OSHA Hazardous Communication Training
  • Sales training completed within the acceptable time frame, as required by the brand

Desired Qualifications

  • Sales experience (Preferred)
  • 2 years of hospitality experience in a progressive role
  • Two-to-Four-year college degree
