Job Summary
Meet or exceed pre-determined booking goals for guest room revenue and manage budgeted costs while negotiating with supervision to maintain overall revenue targets. Handle inquiry calls promptly, compile prospective client lists, and conduct in-person sales calls and on-site entertainment to drive business development. Coordinate sales group functions, prepare detailed contracts and group resumes, and monitor competitive pricing to ensure the hotel remains in a competitive position. Follow up on booked groups, solicit repeat business, and participate in RFP processes and monthly sales blitzes. Maintain third-party booking sites and assist with digital marketing campaigns. This role requires a Bachelor's degree, hospitality sales experience, and strong negotiation skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associates degree
- Sales experience in hospitality or in a related field
- Professionally well connected in local market
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Highly developed verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to influence others, negotiate, provide friendly service and possess professional selling skills
- Ability to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks
- Attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization and presentation skills
- Ability to stand or remain in a stationary position for long periods of time (3-4 hours at a time)
- Ability to type on and operate computers and other office machinery or devices, do 10-key operation and data entry, dial a telephone, manually manipulate objects, handles, tools, and/or controls
- Ability to inspect and visually observe details at close range (within a few feet) and from long range
- Ability to frequently walk around the property to give tours of the building
- Ability to read, write, understand and communicate with others effectively using the English language
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals
- Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, business letters, summaries, and reports in English using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
- Ability to speak effectively in English before groups such as customers or employees
- Ability to read and interpret business records and statistical reports in English
- Some travel may be required to meet with prospective and current clients
