Job Summary
Sales Estimator for Empire Roofing in Houston responsible for prospecting via cold calls, emails, door-to-door, and referrals; setting sales appointments; estimating roofing projects from site inspections to produce scope, pricing for materials and labor, and written proposals; managing the estimating and project process from bid to hand-off packages, submittals, and cost management; coordinating with service manager and President to develop sales strategies and close deals; interpreting contracts to ensure scope and schedule alignment; generating take-offs and accurate customer pricing from field observations and drawings; maintaining documentation and client communications throughout the sales cycle and post-sale follow-up. Requires high school diploma, 2-5 years estimating experience, knowledge of Edge Software or digital estimating tools, strong MS Excel/Word skills, and ability to conduct take-offs, with willingness to learn the bidding process and collaborate across teams.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (required)
- 2 to 5 years of experience estimating Commercial Roofing Projects
- Working knowledge of Edge Software or a digital estimating program
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to prepare bids using Excel and other estimating programs
- Ability to conduct take-offs
- Not afraid of heights and able to climb ladders
- MS Office and MS Project experience (desirable)
- Bachelor's degree in construction/engineering related curriculum (desirable)
- Previous estimating experience helpful (desirable)
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles (desirable)
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
