Job Summary
Optical Technician/Sales Associate delivers a world-class Total Patient Experience to maximize retail sales while supporting patients' medical needs. Trains to dispense and fit glasses and contacts from prescriptions written by Optometrists/Ophthalmologists, connecting patient needs to available eye-care goods and services. Primary duties include determining patient wants, assisting in selecting frames, measuring bridge/eye size/temple length/pantoscopic tilt, operating auto-lensometer and manual lensometer, educating on lenses and coatings, dispensing glasses/contacts, and fulfilling orders. Travel to other locations may be required. Requires high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of customer/patient interaction; background check as required; ability to work in the United States; ABO/NCLE certifications preferred but not required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Favorable result on background check as required by state
- Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
- ABO and NCLE certifications preferred but not required
- Previous medical office experience preferred; ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
