Job Summary
Optical Technician role focused on delivering a world-class Total Patient Experience while maximizing retail sales and supporting patients' medical needs. Responsibilities include dispensing and fitting glasses and contacts from optometrists' prescriptions, determining patient wants and needs, assisting with selecting frames, operating auto-lensometer and manual lensometer, educating on lenses and coatings, taking precise measurements (bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, pantoscopic tilt), dispensing orders, and providing repairs/adjustments. Requires interaction with patients, strong product knowledge in frames and lenses, and the ability to collect accurate measurements. ABO/NCLE certifications are preferred but not required; 1 year of customer/patient interaction experience and a high school diploma or GED are required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and the ability to work in a medical office setting are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- ABO and NCLE certifications preferred but not required
- Favorable result on background check as required by state
- Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
- Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Dispensing glasses and contacting lens orders; operating auto-lensometer and lensometer
