Job Summary
Greet pet parents and answer questions throughout the store while engaging with customers in person, over the phone, at the sales register, and online. Prepare online orders for in-store pick-up and ensure a smooth experience. Feed, water, and clean all pet habitats including bird, reptile, small animal, and fish aquariums. Maintain total store cleanliness standards and support weekly price changes and monthly promotional pricing. Stage and sort new products to match sales floor planners and face, fill, and recover merchandise to meet standards. Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise, services, and live pets. Administer store-owned pet medications as directed by a veterinarian. Promote special events such as adoption weekends and charity events. Take immediate action when a sick or injured pet is identified and transport to the vet as needed. Work in various store areas including services as required.
Required Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure
- Associate required to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception
- Associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception
- Exposure to live animals and their handling is common
- Applicants must be over the age of 18 (except in Montana or where otherwise required by local or state law)
