Job Summary
Act as the point of contact for customers, assist in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs, stock merchandise, build merchandise displays, unload trucks, operate cash register and collect payment, assist customers in locating merchandise, and maintain store cleanliness and front-end operations. Emphasis on cash handling, basic math, plan-o-gram adherence, inventory/stock rotation, customer service, and operating handheld scanners in a fast-paced Dollar General retail environment. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; strong interpersonal skills and safety awareness required. This role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and stocking merchandise in a retail setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Understanding of safety policies and practices
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
- Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
- Relates to customer service and POS operations
- Ability to stock merchandise and operate scanners
- Experience unloading trucks and stocking items
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds occasionally
