Job Summary
Sales Associate at Dollar General in Elgin, OR. Responsible for acting as the point of contact for customers, assisting in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams, stocking merchandise, building displays, unloading trucks, assisting customers, operating the cash register, handling payments and change, assisting with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners, and maintaining store cleanliness and sidewalk displays. Requires ability to stock, rotate, and face merchandise, follow company policies, and provide customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. Must be capable of lifting up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds occasionally; expects frequent walking, standing, and occasional exposure to outside weather. Educational preference is a high school diploma or equivalent; relocation assistance is not available.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
- Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to operate IBM cash register functions
- Frequent and proper lifting up to 40 pounds; occasional up to 55 pounds
- Frequent walking and standing
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
