Job Summary
Greet and assist customers promptly by approaching them immediately, handling multiple shoppers efficiently, and offering recommendations based on product knowledge. Understand and meet customer needs by answering questions, directing them to merchandise, and engaging in suggestive selling while staying informed on availability. Promote store events and promotions to enhance the shopping experience and drive sales. Resolve customer concerns by addressing issues and offering alternative solutions to turn returns into exchanges when possible. Communicate needs to management regarding merchandise restocking, service requirements, and customer feedback. Support team and company goals by collaborating to achieve overall store objectives. Frequently operate cash registers, move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs, and ascend/descend ladders to retrieve stock. Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years old
- Available to work a flexible schedule
- Comfortable with or willing to learn technology (such as cash registers, hand-held and mobile devices)
- Good communicator with the ability to engage with customers
- Able to handle customer interactions and potential issues/concerns courteously and professionally
- Use basic information-gathering skills to solve problems
- Ability to learn procedural knowledge acquired through on-the-job training
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will require day, evening, weekends and may include overnight shifts and travel (as required)
- Must be able to identify and discern email and print instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures
- Must be able to remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Must be able to reach heights of 5-10 feet
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders
- Must be able to kneel, bend, twist, and stoop
