Job Summary
Sell custom published adoptions and original authored custom works to colleges and universities within the California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Hawaii region, leveraging on-campus visits, virtual meetings, conferences, and outbound communications to drive adoption and revenue. Build needs-based custom solutions, coordinate with internal teams, manage RFIs/RFPs, create sales materials, and maintain CRM data and forecasting while aiming to meet annual sales goals. Candidate will travel within the territory and engage a range of stakeholders (instructors, chairs, deans, procurement, instructional designers, directors of academic programs, and digital technology executives) to close high-value, customized publishing solutions. Preferred candidates reside in or near Phoenix, Tucson, Los Angeles, or San Diego. The role emphasizes collaboration across sales, editors, and marketing, with responsibilities including pricing rationale, proposals, mock-ups, and samples, plus contributing to product development and market intelligence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 3 years of Higher Education Publishing experience
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with sales management, editors, and marketing managers
- Proven track record of initiating and championing strategic shifts in sales planning or customer outreach models
- Experience strategizing on complex sales opportunities
- Passion for emerging educational technologies and digital learning tools
- Comfortable adapting to market changes; maintaining focus on long-term strategic outcomes
