Job Summary
Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Document safety inspections by citing dangerous areas or procedures and recommending corrective actions. Assist in maintaining safety equipment supply, analyzing samples for exposure to hazards such as chemicals, smoke, fumes, gases, vapors, noise, and lighting. Apply safety policies and procedures while assisting in employee safety training. Maintain assigned files and records, including material safety data sheets, and interface with regulatory agencies as needed. Handle hazardous materials ensuring proper receipt, handling, shipping, storage, labeling, and disposal. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, two-year degree preferred, and at least two years of related experience. Starting pay range is $26.97 – $34.90/hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 2 years related experience
- Developing understanding and ability to train others in company, state and federal safety policies and regulations
- Ability to train others in correct use of safety equipment
- Practical knowledge of biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field
- Developing skills in the operation of a variety of lab equipment, generators, pumps, gauges, and other common tools
- Ability to perform control calculations
- Ability to produce quality, accurate work
- Ability to detect and correct errors
- Effective written and verbal communication
