Safety Technician - 2nd Shift

Job Summary

Conduct routine safety inspections of equipment, work areas, and processes to identify and correct hazards while monitoring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies. Assist with incident investigations, maintain safety records and permits, and support training programs covering new hire orientations, PPE use, and hazard communication. Administer programs for machine guarding, confined space entry, and respiratory protection, and monitor chemical storage and Safety Data Sheets compliance. Provide support for emergency preparedness, including spill response and evacuation drills, and participate in safety committee meetings. Work the 3:30 pm to midnight shift in a climate-controlled environment ranging from -40ºF to -45ºF, wearing required PPE including hard hats and hearing protection.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in safety, EHS, or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and hazard recognition
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of employees
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Good, corrected vision
  • Ability to walk and stand for a significant amount of time on even concrete surfaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted)
  • Full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching outward, pushing, pulling, and intensive hand/wrist movement
  • Ability to work in a climate-controlled environment of -40ºF to -45ºF
  • Ability to work in an environment with strong odors such as raw meat and marinades
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hair and beard nets, rubber soled shoes, smocks, hearing protection, and hard hats
  • Ability to work 3:30 pm to midnight shift

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in safety, EHS, or manufacturing environment
  • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
