Safety Systems Engineer, Rail – Dublin

Job Summary
Conduct design reviews and technical workshops to assess system, subsystem, and interface designs for safety requirements. Support allocation and traceability of safety requirements through engineering documentation while monitoring compliance with railway standards and regulatory requirements. Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contractors to embed safety into design solutions, testing, and commissioning activities. Proactively monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain momentum. Analyze safety regulations and standards in Ireland and internationally. Promote System Engineering requirements across the MetroLink team to ensure robust safety processes are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline
- Background in a rail engineering environment
- Experienced in leading discipline engineers through the design, construction, and integration phases of a project
- Advanced knowledge of managing Design-Build (DB) contractors and developing system and sub-system specifications that meet customer requirements
- Proven capability in managing design resources and coordinating deliverable outputs
- Experience of project controls, programme management, and technical reporting
- Expertise in systems engineering lifecycle activities, including design, development, production, integration, verification, validation, and acceptance
