Job Summary
Develop and implement safety programs including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and fire protection to ensure OSHA and EPA compliance. Conduct routine hazard inspections, maintain regulatory documentation, and lead safety committee meetings. Investigate accidents and near-misses to identify root causes and track corrective actions. Manage training programs for First Aid/CPR, forklift certification, and toolbox talks. Coordinate contractor safety orientations and evaluate personal protective equipment protocols. Monitor key safety performance indicators and hold employees accountable for established procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in occupational safety & health or a related field
- Minimum 2+ years of work experience in workplace environment, health and safety programs
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, policies, programs, PPE, environmental policies (EPA) safety engineering, accident/injury investigation procedures, etc.
- Ability to develop and conduct safety training programs for all team members at all levels of the facility
- Strong understanding of occupational safety principles, hazard identification, risk assessment and control methods
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information to cross-functional teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Skilled in performing safety inspections ensuring compliance with OSHA safety standards
- Able to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
- Able to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Able to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols
- Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Skilled in developing safety procedures and protocols
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Must be able to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Close vision abilities required
- Travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- OSHA 30 General Industry Certification
- Trained in AED and First-Aid/CPR
- Forklift Trainer Certification
- Previous food manufacturing experience
