Job Summary
Safety Specialist based in Alberta with oversight across USA and Canada, responsible for developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting audits and inspections, investigating incidents, delivering safety training, collaborating with project teams to integrate safety into planning, monitoring safety performance metrics, staying current with industry regulations, and serving as a safety resource for employees.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S), NCSO, Safety Management, Construction Management or related field OR significant experience in place of degree
- Certification from recognized certification board (e.g., CSP, Safety Manager, Safety Auditor) or OHSA 500
- 1-3 years of experience as a full-time safety coordinator or trainer in a construction safety program
- Strong knowledge of OH&S regulations as applied to construction
- Ability to communicate expectations and hold team members accountable
- Proven track record of improving safety performance through behavior-based safety programs
- English/Spanish bilingual preferred
- Willingness to travel approximately 50-75%
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
