Job Summary
Partner with the Safety Manager to develop and implement effective safety programs for the Thacker Pass Project and coordinate daily Health and Safety activities. Conduct regular safety walk-throughs, inspections, and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations. Deliver required training for employees, contractors, and visitors while managing safe work permits, PPE, and industrial hygiene programs. Assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the preparation of action plans to address safety improvements. Collaborate with site teams to promote a culture of safety excellence across operations. This role supports the transition from construction to production at the world's largest lithium reserve in Humboldt County, Nevada.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science or technical discipline related to health and safety
- 2 to 4 years of proven work experience serving as a Safety Specialist or similar leadership role in the chemical, oil and gas, or mineral processing industry
- Working knowledge of U.S. and Nevada OSHA and/or MSHA regulations
- Experience in an OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) facility
- Personal commitment to Lithium Americas' Purpose, Vision, and Values
- Must be able to travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations
Desired Qualifications
- Emergency Medical Technical (EMT) certification
- State First Responders' certification
- Experience in an OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) facility
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proven ability to improve safety in OSHA and MSHA regulated environments
- Proven work experience serving as a Safety Specialist or similar leadership role in the chemical, oil and gas, or mineral processing industry
