Safety Specialist

Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •Three to Five or more years of relevant experience
• •High school diploma
• •Proven experience understanding and applying safety policies and processes, preferably within an industrial and or retail environment
• •Proven experience in multi-tasking of work projects
• •Knowledge of OSHA standards and Safe Work Practices
• •Experience in developing, delivering, and supporting training programs
• •Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in relevant field, preferred
• •Prior experience in public speaking and classroom training is required
• •Prior relevant experience in the energy and or retail or similar industries is strongly preferred
• •Willingness to commit to The Island Way (IES core values of): Kīnāʻole, Aloha, Lōkahi and Hoʻohana
• •Must pass pre-employment background check including, medical, drug and job-related physical abilities testing as required
• •Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required
• •Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within sixty days of hire
• •This is a safety sensitive position and random drug testing is required
• •Valid driver's license with clean abstract
• •Willingness to devote the time as needed to meet packet and task deadlines
• •Willingness to maintain or increase skills
• •Willing to support a 24/7 operation
• •Must be able to draft guidelines, processes and procedures and other written documents
• •As assigned, lead SSEM special projects across business units of IES
• •Ability to uphold to strict ethical standards: integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality of sensitive information
• •Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills, including editing and proofreading. Must be proficient in power point
• •Ability to maintain automated and manual record keeping systems
• •Strong sense of team spirit and ability to transfer it to others
• •Ability to work independently
• •Ability to evaluate information and exercise good judgment in making decisions
• •Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
• •Problem solving—the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information as appropriate

• •Dependability—the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance
• •Safety and security—the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly
• •Knowledge of retail, construction, and fuel storage facilities and applicable hazards

Desired Qualifications

• •Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in relevant field, preferred
• •Prior relevant experience in the energy and or retail or similar industries is strongly preferred
