Job Summary
Safety Specialist role supporting district-wide safety and risk management under the Director of Risk & Special Projects. Responsibilities include maintaining incident/training/compliance records, managing COI process, ensuring SDSs are current, maintaining video asset inventory, assisting with safety planning for events, acting as Safety Coordinator at select events, delivering CPR/AED/First Aid training, conducting safety orientations, coordinating emergency preparedness drills and response protocols, overseeing the Safety Incentive Program, and conducting safety audits/inspections of facilities and parks. Requires Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in related field or significant relevant experience; CPR Instructor Certification within 6 months; Illinois driver’s license with reliable transportation. Part-time 35-38 hours/week with some evenings/weekends; salary range $26-$35/hour.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) in Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resource Management, Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, Business Administration or related field. Will consider significant and material experience in lieu of formal education; Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in risk management, safety or parks and recreation preferred; Certifications: Must be able to acquire the following certifications: CPR Instructor Certification (within six (6) months); valid Illinois driver’s license required along with own source of reliable transportation.
