Job Summary

Safety Specialist for 5 Star Electric, LLC to ensure safety and quality of operations, act as SME in safety management, develop and document procedures, and perform safety control audits for installation and repair work per OSHA and company directives. Travel and relocation may be required. Responsibilities include communicating safety rules, analyzing data to identify trends, involving others in decision-making, reviewing subcontractor safety policies during pre-qualification/bidding, conducting field monitoring of permits (hot work, excavation, crane operation, equipment loading/unloading), auditing subcontractor activities, conducting accident investigations and incident reports, taking corrective actions, and contributing to a proactive safety program with opportunities for overtime and storm assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree, preferred with 3 – 5 years of documented safety power line construction experience
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Federal Regulations, state and local safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Current OSHA 500 certificate and training experience in OSHA 10/30
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting field audits, accident investigations and leading safety meetings and training initiatives
  • Must have Class B CDL (Minimum), valid medical certification and clean driving record
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver License
  • Must be certified in urine drug test collections, as well as Screening Test Technician (STT) for alcohol testing (DOT and company designated)
  • Must have CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Demonstrated ability to review contractor health and safety plans
  • Must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to travel frequently and work overtime including storm work
  • Experience and Education: Associate degree, preferred with 3 – 5 years of documented safety power line construction experience (duplicate clause acceptable)
  • Demonstrated ability to review contractor health and safety plans
  • Knowledgeable in bucket, and pole top rescue operations
  • Current OSHA 30 Certification
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety meetings and training initiatives
